Our tour prices are based on Standard hotel class (3-star hotel). These hotels are selected for their quality service and good location. Please let us know if you prefer Deluxe (4 star hotel) or Luxury (5 star hotel) hotel class.

++ Homestay

Homestay is one of the best ways to get a true experience of the area we travel to. With homestay you would visit real people and stay overnight in their own homes.
We offer very authentic homestay for our adventures. That means real local houses in villages and very simple in terms of bedding and bathroom. We would stay overnight in traditional house of the Thai, Tay or H'mong ethnic minorities for instance and, as the locals do, we would sleep on bamboo floor (homes of the Tay and Thai) or in bed (homes of the H'mong and others). To make you sleep comfortable we provide you with mattress, clean sheet, pillows and mosquito nets.
Bathroom is usually western style but in some villages (very rare) you would experience true local bathroom style. Dinner is usually cooked by the owners of the homestay.
We suggest you should learn some general ideas of Local culture and words to prevent culture crashes if any

Sedan: For your comfortableness on our tours, Activetravel Asia use new 4-seat to 7-seat car of different brands like Corona Altis - Toyota, Laceti - Daewoo etc …

Van: Our new vans are all 16-seat of Ford or Mercedes.

Mini-Bus: ranging from 24-30 coaches with most popular brand is Huyndai County

Bus: ranging from 35-45 coaches. The most favorite brands are Aero Town for 35 coaches and Hi-class for 45 coaches. The newest 45 bus model is Universe Luxury that are often subject to remarkable surcharges.

Important note: There are many mountainous routs that are not suitable for big buses. For your best safety, we dont allow for 35 - 45 seater buses traveling in mountainous routs except some places having Highway Express accessing.

++ Rail transportation

>> In Vietnam: There are two most popular rail routs: Hanoi - Lao Cai train and Hanoi - Sai gon train with many terminals en-routs.

Hanoi - Lao Cai (Sapa)

Deluxe Train / Victoria Express
The Victoria Express Train is a 10-hour trip from Hanoi to Lao Cai, accommodating 48 passengers with comfortable seating, a dining carriage and two luxurious sleeping carriages. Each sleeping carriage has 6 superior cabins (4 berths) and 2 deluxe cabins (2 berths), all are air-conditioned, wood paneled, with individual reading lights, baggage storage, toilets and oversize windows. The train departs six times a week, linking Hanoi to Lao Cai. Victoria Express offers for in-house customers of Victoria Sapa Resort only

First class trains - Sapaly Express, Oriental Deluxe, King Express Deluxe
These trains all offer First Class with clean, comfortable, air-conditioned sleeper. All trains are designed with only 2 soft berths in each cabin and individual reading light that offer you very much space.

Regular class trains - TSC, Tulico, ET Pumkin, Pole Star Express, King Express, Oriental etc
These trains offer 4-bunks, clean, air-conditioned sleepers. If you want more space, you can take a charter cabin booking that results in paying for 4 tickets/one-way.

Budget train - LC
These are 6 hard berth cabin with air-conditioning. The space is limited and you may have to share with many other strangers on-board.

All of those trains are scheduled with departs from 08.00pm to 10.00pm and arrive to Lao cai at around 04.00AM to 06.30AM next morning. You will need car transfer for about 35km to reach to Sapa town.

Hanoi - Hue/Danang/Nha Trang/Ho Chi Minh City
The entire rail rout from Hanoi to Hochiminh city is about 29-30 hours. The most popular segments are Hanoi-Hue, Hanoi - Danang, Danang-Nha trang, Nhatrang-Hochiminh city. We suggest you should not take train rides over 15 hours due to save your touring visit and prevent tired/boring ride.

First class trains
These trains all offer First Class mostly running on SE, TN train code with clean, comfortable, air-conditioned sleeper. All trains are designed with 4 soft berths in each cabin and individual reading light

Second class trains
These trains offer clean, air-conditioned sleepers. All trains are designed with 6 soft berths in each cabin

>> In Myanmar: Train ride can be the hardest experiences you have ever been through due to very bad infrastructure even though you are familiar with adventures. The train bumps seriously during the whole trip and you cannot sleep, read or even do anything. The only train experience we recommend is Yangon Circle Train in 3 hours.

>> In Cambodia and Laos: Train ride is not popular and not as convenient as road or flight travel

Our smaller boat, the  “Valentine”, launched in late 2007, is perfect for those seeking a more exclusive and intimate experience. Valentine is a full service vessel offering all the facilities and amenities of our larger boats, but with only five cabins; four Deluxe cabins at 19 square meters each and one Suite cabin at 30 square meters. The Bassac Boat (The Bassac I & The Bassac II)
