Cat Ba island is big enough for a fairly tough trekking tour that can last up to 5 - 6 hours per day and make you really sweat. Brief Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Hai Phong – Hydrofoil to Cat Ba Island

Day 2: Trekking Cat ba jungle – Overnight in Viet Hai
Day 3: Kayaking Lan Ha bay full day - Overnight on junk

Day 4: Cruise and back to Hanoi

Day 1: Hanoi – Hai Phong – Hydrofoil to Cat Ba

Be prepare at your hotel at around 09.30-10.00 for join transfer to meeting point for shared transfer (bus and speedboat) to Cat Ba Island. Upon arrival Cat Ba Island, have a short transfer from the Pier to our Ecolodge.

Cat Ba Island is the largest island in Halong bay so it is automatically the biggest one over the North of Vietnam. This island bears on it a dense jungle and several small but clean, lovely beaches.

Check in the Ecolodge and spend your time at the swimming pool or join in the selfguided tour to butterfly valley (at surcharge).

Day 2: Trekking Cat Ba National Park – Viet Hai village ~ 5hrs trekking

Enjoy a full breakfast and be prepared before the bus takes us to the edge of Cat Ba National Park. Start our Cat Ba trekking, our tour guide will follow you all the time of hiking for guiding and maximizing your experience with his guidance from what is suitable speed, ascending and descending hills but do not hurt your muscle to a small tiny technique such as lacing your shoes. That feature classifies us always outstanding from other operators and makes your tour real trekking experience.

We are going to have a long trek across dense jungle of Cat Ba Island to reach the peaceful Viet Hai village, with a short break at Frog Lake for picnic lunch. Reaching your bungalow in the village at in the afternoon. Free time or you could enjoy a leisure cycling to the Viet Hai Port for sightseeing and photographing. Dinner and overnight at the bungalow.

Day 3: Exploring and kayaking Lan Ha Bay

Breakfast at the bungalow then hop on a buggy for transfer to Viet Hai Port where you overnight boat is waiting for you. The cruise will take us to Bai Tu Long bay for visiting 3 tunnels lagoon – one the best kayaking spot in the region.

A lunch will be prepared on the cruise while you are enjoying your kayaking time.

Get back to the cruise for lunch on board next to many secluded beaches in 3 Peaches Island area where is famous for crystal water.

Afternoon, cruising toward the north of the island next to Halong bay, passing Coco Beach. More paddling is an option to discover the Tra Bau area.

The evening time will come with a romantic dinner embraced by one of the most spectacular sunsets in the world will warm up every sense and passion of yours, night squid fishing in an option.

Dinner on cruise and overnight in your private cabin.

Day 4: Cruising and transfer back to Hanoi

Get up on a morning with the sun setting the first lights to the magical bay. Coffee, tea and fruit will be served from 7.00 a.m along with your full breakfast on cruise. After breakfast, we continue our cruise around Lan Ha bay, visiting local fish farm. At around 10.30am, get back to the cruise after the visit and heading back to Cat Ba Island. Say goodbye to the crew and your guide before join transfer back to Hanoi. Tour ends at around 16.00.

KAYAKING AND TREKKING GRADE
Moderate Grade that means this tour involve in active, physical-required activities can be up to 4 - 5 hours a day at a steady pace. The tour is going to involve a considerable amount of ascent or descent under different weather conditions. Support facilities may not be available on-site and there are some occasional difficult days. You will need a good level of fitness.

* Suggested preparation: 30 - 45 minutes of aerobic, physical exercise, 3-4 times per week for a few weeks leading up to your adventure are recommended.

Who suits: For outdoor novices and above.

Activity: 4-5 hours most days

Distances: Hike up to 8 miles (or 13km) most days, cycle 20-40 miles (or 32 – 68km) most days

Surfaces: rolling or mountainous terrain with some steep ascents/descents and uneven trails

HOTELS AND OVERNIGHT CRUISE
On Cat Ba Island we use the best 3-star hotel looking over Cat Ba Bay.
The beautiful traditional junk functions as a hotel and we would share it with other travelers. We will get twin shared cabin with AC and restroom.
The next day when we go kayaking a smaller wooden boat will support us the whole day.

OUR TOUR GUIDE
The tour will be guided by one of our tour guides who are experienced in guiding kayaking tours in Halong Bay. He has been carefully trained in this field and is fully licensed in tour guiding by the government. In addition, he has been trained in first-aid by SOS International and he knows how to deal with difficult situations. You will have a great time travelling with him.

THE KAYAKS AND EQUIPMENT
For Halong kayaking trip, we use mainly sit-in, hard-cell kayak mostly by WINNER manufacturers. However, due to the limit number of the single kayak, the double kayak can be used as alternative. Paddle and dry bag are available. Life-vests are supplied too and manufactured in Vietnam.

THE KAYAKING DAY
A typical kayaking day starts at about 8.00 am after breakfast. Lunch will be served on support boat. At the end of a kayaking day, we would return to the junk by 5 pm or 5.30 pm.
