Depart from Hanoi at 08:00 am, we head to Ton village, after three hours up into the mountain, we arrive in Ton village and start our trek to Pu Luong nature reserve. Starting at Ton village in Nam Son commune, we start to trek on the main road about 1 hours to forest for picnic lunch. After lunch, we start trekking down to Nua village. The highlight on this walk is experiencing the beauty of Pu Luong Nature Reserve, the everyday life, and culture of the white Thai people. The host family welcomes us, free time to take rest, have a shower then a traditional dinner and stay the night.

 

 

 Summary;~ 100 km & ~ 5-hour walk.

After breakfast, we start for a full day of hiking. At first, we have about one hour walk on the main road, before starting our wonderful trekking with more challenges. The trekking becomes more remote yet one is never far from a villager tending fields, passing steep limestone mountain, rain forest inside the Pu Luong Nature Reserve to the village. After a rough trek, the picnic lunch will be served at Pon village.

We continue with some steeps climbs, more stream crossings and through the valley we arrival in Kho Muong village where we will spend our second night in a typical Thai eco – stilt house (set up by FFI – Flora and Fauna Internationa). Time to relax and enjoy dinner.

 

 Summary: 4.5 to 5 hours walk.

Get up and observe or even take part in your host family activities in the morning because here daily life starts early, take an opportunity to stroll around the village before having Thai style breakfast.

We then take a further walk to the main road. Here our driver will pick us up back to Cam Thuy for lunch. 

After lunch, we drive back Hanoi on Ho Chi Minh highway
